PPWR and our packaging

New European rules apply
From 12 August 2026
Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation
Regulation (EU) 2025/40

Responsible use of packaging

At Eicom Barneveld B.V. we consider it important that our packaging is safe, responsible and suitable for its intended use.

From 12 August 2026, new European rules apply to packaging and packaging waste: the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40.

The aim of this regulation is to make packaging more sustainable, to limit the use of harmful substances and to make packaging easier to recycle.

How does Eicom Barneveld ensure this?

To pack our eggs and liquid egg products we use different types of packaging, such as egg trays, boxes and plastic packaging.

We work exclusively with selected packaging suppliers and assess the packaging on the basis of the available product information and declarations of conformity.

Among other things, we check:

  • safety of packaging for food;
  • material information;
  • recyclability;
  • restriction of harmful substances;
  • compliance with applicable European legislation.

Our responsibility

Eicom Barneveld B.V. manages the relevant information on the packaging used within our quality system.

For our customers, this means we can demonstrate that the packaging we use meets the applicable legal requirements.

On request, we can provide additional information on specific packaging.

Transparency towards our customers

We want to give our customers clarity about the packaging in which our eggs and liquid egg products are supplied.

That is why we make our general PPWR declaration of conformity and relevant product specifications available.

These documents give insight into the properties of the packaging and how we ensure compliance with the regulation.

Do you have questions about our packaging or PPWR compliance? Please contact our quality department.
